About Kids Voting St. Paul

Kids Voting St. Paul (KVSP) is a non-partisan, non-profit civic education initiative that is securing and shaping the future of democracy by preparing young people for a life of active citizenship. Not only is fostering educated and engaged youth important to our democracy, but when young people understand society and how we relate to each other, they are better prepared for success in other areas of life. Effective citizens have attitudes and skills that help make them better employees, students, parents and community members.

Kids Voting is for every student in Saint Paul from kindergarten to high school! Learn about the election process at school through interactive and fun classroom activities as well as through a hands-on Election Day experience voting at the real polls! About Us

Kids Voting St. Paul is a community-based, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to empower students in Saint Paul with the skills and confidence to embrace civic involvement and become active citizens as adults. We want all K-12 students to become educated, engaged voters.

Why Kids Voting?

The need for Kids Voting is evidenced by the growing trend of declining levels of civic engagement and apathetic attitudes towards voting. Today, 50% of young people grow up in non-voting households. Only about half of eligible voters participate in Presidential elections and about one-third participate in local elections. The figures are even lower for minority populations and young adults
